Wildlife Monitoring
The Office of Environmental Quiet & Wildlife Monitoring maintains current assessments of raccoon and opossum activity within the Village of Hobart. Residents are encouraged to review active indices before placing outdoor waste.
The Office publishes the Raccoon Activity Index (RAI) and the Possum Observance Index (POI) on a regular basis. Both indices are distributed through the Hobart Herald and Village social media channels.

July 4th Quiet Night
The Village Animal Shelter will hold a Quiet Night for all village animals during the July 4th holiday. Intake begins at 8:15 PM.
Residents must contact Director Deirdre Harker in advance to ensure their animals are on the intake list. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Notices
Residents are reminded that outdoor waste containers should be secured during periods of elevated RAI levels. Unsecured waste may attract raccoon activity and complicate index assessments.
Quarterly possum feeder inspections are scheduled for this month. Station access areas along Mulberry Street and Court Street may see brief foot traffic from Office personnel. No resident action is required.
